About Me
I am the mother of 2 boys (ages 22 and 25) and I became a home childcare provider after decades of volunteering with young children and working in a childcare facility for a year and a half. Before that I worked outside the home, so I understand the challenge of finding quality care for your child. That is why I offer a variety of activities in a structured, caring environment – the type of environment I would want my child in. I also hold my NC Early Childhood Education Credentials.
Here is more of what I have to offer:
- Part-day preschool taught by an outside preschool teacher (ages 2-4).
- Low staff/child ratios.
- Dedicated area of my home. Our downstairs has been transformed into a classroom, with one room exclusively used by Tiny Treasures Childcare.
- Large fenced in outdoor play area - Plenty of climbing structures, riding areas, and other activities to encourage large motor skill development.
General Cleanliness & Hygiene
We take the well-being of your child very seriously and work hard to provide an environment that is as healthy as possible. We are committed to keeping our home and the children in it as clean as possible in order to help minimize and/or prevent the spread of germs.
Cleaning and Disinfecting
Our home is kept clean and disinfected at all times. We thoroughly clean surfaces that children come in close contact with using soap and water, bleach solution or Lysol wipes, etc. The high chairs are cleaned between each use, and the diaper changing tables are cleaned and disinfected between each diaper change. Toys are cleaned and disinfected often, and water-play tables are cleaned and disinfected before being filled with water and carefully supervised when in use.
Hand Washing
Hand washing is the single most effective practice in preventing the spread of germs. We wash our hands many times throughout the day, as well as the children's hands before and/or after engaging in a thorough list of activities.
Meals and snacks
We provide a nutritious and well-balanced breakfast and afternoon snack. You are responsible for packing a nutritious lunch each day your child is in attendance. Hands are washed before and after meals.
Play Time
We believe that play is learning for young children. Through play the children learn by exploring their world and trying new skills in a safe environment. They also develop social skills through peer interaction. We offer this for your child by providing a balance between structured and unstructured activities and by recognizing that all children are born with a desire to explore, discover, and learn. Play is critical to the healthy growth and development of children. Children develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically through play. Play is how children experience their world and bring meaning to it. It models the social framework that builds relationships for life and inspires imagination.
Tiny Treasures Childcare is successful in part because children are free here to learn through all forms of play-- pretend play, playing games, organized activities and other active playing. We do not underestimate the importance of play time on a growing child's mind, body and spirit.
Indoor Activities
Includes books and story-time, music and songs, dress up, play food, stuffed animals, cars/trucks/planes, arts and crafts, puzzles, animals/dinosaurs, trains, musical instruments, balls, dolls and various learning toys, various games, Potato Head, blocks, beads and string, play dough, coloring, painting, science, board games, puppets and more.
Outdoor Activities
Include climbing, sliding, jumping, running, balls, parachute, catch, bubbles, follow the leader, squirt bottles, ride-on toys, tunnels, safe water toys, various games, water table, painting, neighborhood walks, exploring nature/weather, and yes, falling. We do our best to limit the number of times this occurs with constant supervision, watchful eyes and a safe environment. Outdoor play is part of our daily schedule.
Periodic/Seasonal Activities
A few times a year we invite guests for an onsite visit (Fire Department, Police Department, Dentist, etc.) to enhance our learning experience. We may also have an Easter Egg Hunt, dress-up for Halloween or exchange Valentine's Day cards. In addition to these things, we celebrate the children's Birthdays as well as other holidays and seasonally appropriate special days. |
